What You Don't Know Will Hurt You

Psalm 138:2b  (Amplified Bible)
for You have
exalted above all else Your name and
Your word and You have magnified
Your word above all Your name!

Let us ask ourselves a question.  Do we really know Jesus or do we just know of Him?   As we read the above psalm, we notice something. The psalmist writes that God has exalted His word above all.  Think about it for a second.  We claim that all the answers are in the word of God.  Which is a fact, but do we know why it is a fact?  It is a fact because the word of God is the precepts and ways of God. The answer yes! Jesus was the manifestation of God the Father’s ways in human form.  Jesus was and is the word.

John 1:1-4, 11-12, 14, 17 (King James)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things was made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of man.
11 He came unto his own, and His own received Him not.
12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even
to them that believed on His name:
14 And the Word was made flesh, (the Word put on a body and took on the name Jesus) and dwelt among us, (and we behold His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

The word of God is that element that many of us are missing in our lives.  We fail in areas of our lives because we have not the truth of God’s word in that area.  The Bible, which is the word of God, tells us that we will perish from a lack of knowledge.  The knowledge is knowledge of God's word, the knowledge of how to apply the word of God to a situation.  The word of God tells us if we meditate on the word and become doers of the word, then we will walk in victory.  It says in the Book of Joshua that we will make our way prosperous and have good success.  (Joshua 1:8)

So, again, do we really know Jesus or do we just know of Him?  If we know His word we know Him.  If we keep His word, we are of Him.  But, how can we keep His word if we do not know His word.  Let us understand this is not meaning knowing every Scripture, but it means to know of God’s ways. When we live by His way of being we are of Him, which is from knowing Him, knowing of His ways from His word.  But when we do not live by His word we are living by the wisdom and understanding and the ways that have been introduced into the world by the devil.  Any way that opposes God’s way is a way that has been perverted by the devil.

Again, we need to ask ourselves a question.  By which ways are we living? Do our ways of life say that we know Christ or does our ways of life speak volumes of how much we know of the ways of the devil?  Let us think on it this way.  If someone asked you if you know another person, you would say you know of that person if you only know very little about him or her.  But if you know how the person thinks, responds to things, how they would act in a given situation, what they believe, what they like or dislike, then you would say you know them.

So, in order for us to truly know Jesus, we need to know how He thinks, what He likes and what He dislike, how He would handle a situation.  We learn that by getting an understanding from the word of God.  Jesus’ ways are the same as God the Father’s, for Jesus states what He does is what he sees His Father do.  They are one and for us to be one with Jesus we will have to know Him in order to follow Him.

Therefore, get into the word of God daily so that you can build a true relationship with God.  Without the word, we are missing one of the key elements to building a true relationship with God.  For in the beginning was the word, which is a note to us that for us to get victory, we must also, have a beginning.  Our beginning must be the same beginning God uses.  THE WORD.  Start with the word and everything will fall into place.  We are failing in different areas of our lives because we have a lack of Godly knowledge.  We have a lack of relationship with our God.  Some may say, I pray, but do we really give God the time to talk to us?  He speaks to us through His word.  Even if you say He speaks to you during your prayer time, you must ask yourself if what you are hearing is Him.  Because the devil will speak and you yourself will speak.  But, in order to know that what you heard was from God, you will have to verify it with the word, so that you are not mislead by yourself or the devil.

Relationship means there is some getting to know each other.  Do you know Jesus or do you know of him?  Let’s get to know Him so that we are not those who are hurting, but prospering because of a true relationship with Jesus Christ.   Let Him speak to us through His word.  Not knowing the word (God’s ways of being and dealing with situations and circumstances) is hurting us.  So, let us not hurt ourselves let us grow to know Jesus, by learning of His way of thinking, and applying it to our lives.  Jesus is not just a story, but he is a way of life. If we would follow His way of life it will produce victory for us that will last for eternity.
