When Will We Stop Settling

When will we stop settling for second best?  When will we wake up to realize that God’s ways only lead to increase, victory, prosperity, and blessings?  When will we go ahead and be led “for real” by the word of God and Holy Spirit?

We often are not where we could and should be because we are stuck in the wrong way of thinking and doing.  Doing wrong things, and because of it we are experiencing a form of death.  We ask why hasn’t God blessed us yet?  How come this and that has not happened? And, why did that happen to me? What we need to do is a self-check.  Do we see from the word of God what could be wrong? Do we remember or even know about the scripture in Proverbs chapter 14 verse 12

Proverbs 14:12 (New King James)
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

Are we doing things that are producing blessings in our lives, or do we note that there is aggravation, frustration, disappointment, emptiness, lack, and loss, any form of death.  The above Scripture says that there is a way that we think is right, but that way leads us to a form of death.  So where there is lack, loss, negativity, death, etc., we need to check our ways within that area.  Don’t fall for the trap that men speak about, saying it is just not God’s timing, or that you are being tested of God.  Those are only the excuses that man puts out.  Think about it for a second.  The Bible says in James 1:13(NKJ), ‘Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.’  So we know from the word that God does not tempt us. But what about the time?  Well, we know from the word that there is a time and season for all things.  But where do we get God’s timing, it is not found in Scriptures.  What we do find is that actions produce reactions.  So when we think of the timing, timing depends on the actions that have or have not been taken.  Let’s think on the Scripture, Deuteronomy 28 verses 1 and 2:

Deuteronomy 28:1 –2 (King James)
1 ¶ And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments ….
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

Here the above scripture states that if we obey the ways of the Lord then the blessing will come on us. The first action is obeying the wisdom of God. After we obey the wisdom of God that action causes a reaction in our lives, which are the blessings coming on us. It is the result we have desired to have. Our actions start the timing process. But, depending on what kind of action we take a reaction is going to come. Good or bad reaction depends on our action to any giving situation. We have to decide to act according to the wisdom of God which is the voice of God to have the godly out comes we desire.

Question? What voice have we been following, if there is a lack or form of death in our lives?  It has not been the voice of God because if it were, blessings would come on us and overtake us.  We cannot take man’s voice, or the voices in our heads, that we try to convince ourselves is God talking to us because that voice lines up with the way we want to handle a situation. Also we can not get upset when there are no blessings produced because of it. We must take God’s word and His voice only.  Only His word and His voice lead to blessings coming upon us.  If you believe you heard from God, ask yourself a question.  What I heard, does it line up with God’s written word?  Could it be an emotional response? Could it be what others have been saying and now I’m believing it is God talking to me?  Be careful not to fall for misleading voices.  Think about the other times in your life when you have done this.  We all have done it.  So, let us do a self-check.  The Bible even says, “Check the spirit.”  Your double-checking will help you get to the land of blessings and away from the land of death.

Let us stop settling for second best and lack.  Let us settle for God’s best for our lives.  We hear the “no” to wasting time with that person or this person or that thing or this thing”.  Let us follow the leading of God and the word of God and we will walk ourselves onto Overtaking Blessing Avenue.  Let us not settle for less. Let us settle for more by following God’s word more, obeying His voice more, and we will receive more.  Timing is on you or on us.  What will we do?  Will we have days of prosperity and years of pleasure by following the scripture in Job chapter 36 verse 11?

Job 36:11 (King James)
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

Shall we cause every thing we put our hand to do to prosper by following Palms chapter 1 verses 2 and 3?

Psalms 1:1-3 (King James)
1 ¶ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Shall we have peace and favor of God and man by following Proverbs chapter 3 verses 1 through 6?

Proverbs 3:1-6 (King James)
1 ¶ My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Please note that, it is not timing but doing.  Note the doing is putting God’s ways first and following Him.  To achieve you must put the word of God in you and put the word in action and that will cause you to be blessed.  Not a man saying he is pronouncing blessings over you and you reach up and receive your blessings.  The Bible does not speak of those things that men speak of.  But, states if you observe and do the will of God: the ways of God, the word of God, following the leading of God, then shall you find success and blessings and live a life full of prosperity and days full of pleasure.  You set the timing by what you do or don’t do.  The Bible says that God has given you the power to get wealth.  He has given you the ability to do or not do the word, but you must choose to do.  Choose life, which is God's ways and you will live and be blessed.
